Prof. Dr. Robert Bong 

Chief Advisor, Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute

"Embedding Blue Ocean Strategy to Sustain Cultural Enterprise"

Dr Robert Bong, a former Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and Director of a number of publicly listed companies, has more than 30 years of global experience in corporate leadership.  Some of the key appointments include Managing Director and Senior Vice President of Nortel Networks, ExCo Member of Lanka Bell, Managing Director of Keppel T&T, Director of SVOA Public Co, Director of CGS Inc. Director of Transmarco Limited (Sampoerna Co) and Director of Micronesia Registration Advisory Inc.

Dr Bong has special interest in the technology and education sectors within the emerging economies particularly China, India and the Islamic countries.  Prior to arriving in Malaysia, Dr Bong was based in Beijing China working with TsingHua University developing the entrepreneurship and career development program for young Chinese students and entrepreneurs.   Dr Bong also lived in India as the pioneer for the IT and software development business process outsourcing industry and later as an Angel Investor incubating Indian technology start-up ventures in Bangalore.

Dr Bong is formally the Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of UCSI University.  He is an Advisor to the Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute (MBOSI); a non-profit organization set up by the Malaysian government.  He is a globally certified Blue Ocean Strategy Practitioner and the Entrepreneur-In-Residence with the INSEAD Business School in France and Singapore Management University, Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Singapore.  In India, Dr Bong is Co-Chairman for the India Blue Ocean Strategy Research Center TAPMI and he specializes in teaching and research case writing on Blue Ocean Strategy. He is also the Chairman of the Sampoerna University Supervisory Board in Indonesia and he sits on the Supervisory Board of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation managing one of the largest outreach programs in Indonesia.

Dr Bong comes from a diverse cultural background and is fluent in multiple languages including English and Chinese.

Mr. Chiu Keng Guan 

Film Director, Ola Bola, The Journey, Great Day & WooHoo!

​

Chiu Keng Guan is a Malaysian film director who graduated from the Beijing Film Academy. Chiu Keng Guan has directed some of Malaysia’s highest-grossing movies with Astro and its movie production arm, Astro Shaw such as WooHoo! (2010), Great Day (2011), The Journey (2014) and the more recent Ola Bola (2016). His latest productions have broken box office records in Malaysia, earning him the moniker “17 million man” by a local newspaper. He has also received numerous notable awards and nominations, including the Golden Wau Awards and the Malaysia Film Festival awards.

Mr. Zan Azlee

Multimedia Journalist, Documentary Filmmaker and Writer

Zan Azlee is a multimedia journalist, documentary filmmaker and writer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has 16 years experience in the field and his last senior post was as Senior Editor, News Features, at Astro AWANI, Malaysia's first 24-hour news channel. He currently runs Fat Bidin Media, a content development company. Zan is a contributing correspondent for several international news organisation which includes, CNN International, Al Jazeera International, Global Post, VPRO TV (Dutch), VJ Movement (Dutch) and a few more. He also has conflict journalism experience having reported and produced documentaries in places like Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey and Southern Thailand. Zan has produced numerous feature documentaries that have gone on to screen in various international film festivals, and is also an author who has written four non-fiction books to date.

He is a subject matter expert on socio-politics, social media, entertainment, digital journalism, film, music & theater critics. Started as a blogger in 2002, he has won various awards and accolades including Asia's Best Blog & Malaysia’s Best Blog in 2004. He was a Member of Jury for FFM25, the year when Dain Said's Bunohan won the coveted Best Film. As a Social Media Manager for a 24/7 news channel, Astro AWANI, he leads the social media unit during 2014 tragedies of #MH370, #MH17, #QZ8501 & Malaysia 2013 General Election #MalaysiaMemilih.

Asst. Prof. Ser Shaw Hong earned his MA in Cultural Management from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and a BFA in Arts and Design from the University of Tasmania, Australia. He has 15 years of international experience in tertiary educational management and teaching in communication design, creative arts and cultural studies (undergraduate and graduate levels) within the higher education institutions in Asia. He is highly regarded as a bright and energetic individual with multilingual, multicultural and multidiscipline background. As a strong and democratic leader with a unique approach that is proven successful in educating, influencing, and leading groups and individuals of different backgrounds.

Ms. Deborah Melissa Bottreau

Deborah Melissa Bottreau, of French-Argentinian descent is a Graphic Design Graduate from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology. She is the Founder, Managing and Creative Director of Sienna DMB Sdn Bhd, a creative and branding agency based in Malaysia. Deborah is the President of the Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs (MAAYE), after previously serving as the Founding Deputy President. She also currently sits as a Council Member of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC), an officially ASEAN-mandated network of Young Entrepreneurs from all 10 ASEAN Member States. 

Mr. Johan Nasir

Johan was a former engineering student of Imperial College London and MBA at Charles Sturt University, Australia. He simultaneously manages various entrepreneur ventures and business areas including Advertising, Investment Finance, Technology, Marketing Distribution and International Events Management. He also holds several senior company positions in Property Management and Development, Traditional and Digital Media, Public Relations, Entertainment and other industries. With a long resume list, he has served as the Senior Investment Manager, evaluating over a 1000 innovation business ideas, with Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance for over 5 years. For the past 7 years through Proficeo, he has been a senior Entrepreneur Coach in Cradle’s Coach & Grow Programme and also for the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme via Malaysia Industry-Government High Technology Group. He is currently a committee member with the Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs, part of an official ASEAN-mandated network of Young Entrepreneurs from all 10 ASEAN Member Countries.

Collin Swee & Syed Sadiq Albar have been friends and business partners for more than 10 years. Their children play with each other without regard for race or colour. Both of them grew up in a multicultural environment and desire to see their children grow up in a similar environment. They wanted to use their entrepreneurial experience to create a social enterprise that would encourage Malaysians to do something, no matter how much or little, to sow hope for a better future of the nation and help someone in need at the same time. Projek57 is non-political and non-partisan, created by Malaysians, for Malaysians. Collin Swee & Syed Sadiq Albar believe every Malaysian has a share in the future of Malaysia and a part to play in shaping that future, even in the smallest of ways. They wanted the whole look and feel of Projek57 to be fresh and modern, with uniquely local designs that would cut across demographic groups which any Malaysian would want to wear.

Jacqueline spent 14 years as an investment banker at CIMB before she w​ound​ up her career to be fully involved in her businesses. As a self-proclaimed 'enjoypreneur', she is a firm believer of working on only passion projects – her philosophy being that if you do something you love, it will not feel like work and the money will eventually come. Her initial project, Batik Boutique Hotel, is a TripAdvisor Hall of Famer and she now has a collection of 3 unique hotel properties under her management. She co-founded Tanoti Sdn Bhd, the country's most progressive songket house, investing in research and innovation as much as it focuses on preservation of the heritage craft. Jackie is one of the protagonists of Borneo744, Malaysia's first Blue Ocean Entrepreneurs Township. Her vision is to catalyse an entire new ecosystem of young people who wish to turn their passion into profession.
